“I give you the mausoleum of all hope and desire, which will fit your individual needs no better than it did mine or my father’s before me, I give it to you not that you may remember time, but that you may forget it for a moment now and then and not spend all of your breath trying to conquer it.”

Dale Horvath (The Walking Dead, Season 1, Episode 4)

The Hamilton Watch Company is known for both functionality and design.  Established in the late 1800’s this company has been experienced in creating quality time-pieces for over a century!  Their design is functional, elegant, and streamlined.
During World War II this company filled a great need with the US Soldiers providing watches to thousands of troops.  Their Field Watch features an understated style, snag-proof design, low profile and durable construction.  Their product is not highly polish so that it doesn’t reflect light to give away your position in the field.   It also features a number of strap designs, I would recommend one that is rugged and durable.  Because this is a mechanical watch it doesn’t require the need for replacement batteries.  When the grid is down, and the lights are off, you will still be able to keep track of time and days.

Tracking time may seem trivial in a survival situation but it actually plays a huge role in your ability to coordinate in a doomsday type scenario.  Keeping track of time and days will allow you to keep hope alive and boost your moral.  Timekeeping is something we take for granted daily.  However, in a survival situation, timekeeping can help you focus and keep a clear head.  Not having a timepiece might be enough to make you loose your sanity!
